Case Study
Frasers Property
Project Size:
1.5MW Solar + 700kWh Storage + 750kVA Generator
Project Summary
Frasers Property is a valued long-term customer who Smart have worked with for several years. The successful delivery of their NuPure Beverages project - a 2.25MWp rooftop solar system which was delivered on time and on budget - led to us being selected for this project.
Smart were key in getting this project up and running by providing engineering resources to enable the electrical infrastructure design, metering strategy and essential services power, as well as determining how the battery and generator solution was integrated. In addition, we assisted Frasers in obtaining the required grid connection approval with United Energy.
Integration of Multiple Power Generation Sources
Setting up the system to operate in the NEM and participate in wholesale, Demand response and FCAS markets
Hybrid control of all generation/energy sources to optimise financial outcomes
The system we designed is a solar, battery and generator hybrid set up. The solar is used to offset consumption directly onsite, while the battery and generator provide emergency back up in the event of a power outage whilst also enabling access to energy market services like FCAS and demand response in order for Real Utilities to access further revenue streams and provide the customer, Ozito with cheaper energy being the tenant on the site.
The project is unique as it is the first site Real Utilities had implemented these technologies into any of their C&I sites which is going to be a standard model moving forward. We worked with the selected main contractor, Hansen Yuncken, ensuring their tight installation schedule was adhered to so that the project was handed over to Ozito on time.
“We chose to work with Smart Commercial Solar because they have a really good track record. They’re a reputable company with a team of great people. In the tendering process they designed a feasible solution and worked with us to fit all the solar on the main roof.
I thought the use of the helicopter was really clever; it was really important for us to stick to the construction programme which was quite tight. The installation went really well, and the team was really responsive during the construction programme. We are really happy with the outcome.”
