189kWh Rooftop PV
Project Summary
For over 120 years, Lauriston Girls' School has been dedicated in cultivating ethical and compassionate young women into responsible global citizens. In line with this mission, the newly established Ullmer Sports and Wellbeing Centre was designed with environmental sustainability at its core.
The collaboration between Lauriston Girls' School and Smart Commercial Solar began from a public RFT facilitated by School Procure. Amid a competitive tender process, Smart Commercial Solar stood out for their technical expertise.
Installing the 189kWh system at the Armadale site presented multifaceted technical challenges. The dent-prone nature of the roof material demanded meticulous planning to prevent damage during installation. The solution ultimately involved the installation of permanent walkways made from plywood and carpet around the panels.
While initially planning for a 100kWh system with future expansion in mind, the Lauriston Girls' School was ultimately influenced by VEECs pricing. Smart Commercial Solar assisted the school in securing a hedged certificate price, enabling the school to make the most of its certificate value. This gave them comfort to maximise the value of its certificates, installing another 89kWh system in a single installation phase. This alteration led to significant annual savings of $50,000.
